The APTA’s Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) is an event held annually with lectures and sessions on the latest research and practices from the 18 specialty sections of the APTA. This February, it was attended by over 11,300 people, including five first-year UCSF/SFSU DPT students. We were in Anaheim, CA from Wednesday, February 17, through Saturday, February 20. Each day was full of educational programming, poster sessions, receptions, and a massive exhibit hall with the latest technology in PT.

The culminating experience for the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree consists of an evidence-based review and meta-analysis answering clinical questions asked by each third year DPT student. All 49 students presented their individual studies in a public forum at our Annual Spring Symposium held on March 5, 2016. Peers, students, faculty, clinicians, and guests attended the presentations. Congratulations to DPT Class of 2016 students Jason Gee and Carolina Zubiri, Apple Teaching Award Recipients for the second time! These awards are given for outstanding teaching efforts in the School of Pharmacy, and are based on student evaluations. Jason and Carolina received this honor in the Winter of 2015, and again in the Fall of 2015. “For me, teaching is an amazing experience! I had a great experience inspiring students, challenging them to think critically, and encouraging them to have fun while learning,” said Jason.
