Are you not as steady on your feet as you used to be? Do you avoid activities you used to enjoy because you are afraid you will lose your balance?

BalanceFit Group is a class that includes balance, strength, coordination, and mental flexibility exercises specifically designed to improve balance confidence.

BalanceFit participants include individuals with a history of:

  • Falls
  • High fall risk
  • Injury from falls
  • MS
  • Post stroke
  • CVA
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Vestibular dysfunction
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • other neurological problems
  • Cardiovascular disease (must be cleared by physician)

Note: Participants must have the ability to walk unassisted and must be able to tolerate physical activity.

In addition, BalanceFit is offered as one on one private sessions with a physical therapist. The 90-minute evaluation includes an individualized comprehensive fall risk assessment. Continued packages of 30 or 60 minute sessions are available for an individualized and maximally challenging balance program.

Requirements: Participation is subject to screening by the supervising physical therapist.

Instructor: Erica Pitsch, PT, MPT, DPT, NCS is a licensed physical therapist specializing in neurologic physical therapy. Additional instructors are UCSF Physical Therapy Clinicians.
