BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Gann earned his Doctor of Physical therapy from the Graduate Program in Physical Therapy at UCSF/SFSU and subsequently completed the Northern California Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Program at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City, CA. He recently joined the UCSF/SFSU clinical faculty and currently works at the Faculty Practice at the Mt. Zion campus.

CLINICAL EXPERTISE

Dr. Gann has a variety of experience treating patients with neurologic diagnoses in multiple settings that include acute care, inpatient brain injury rehabilitation and outpatient rehabilitation. Dr. Gann focuses on implementing the best evidence to guide his practice while building a strong therapeutic alliance with his patients. He employs an individualistic approach and seeks out what is most salient to each individual to facilitate their return to optimal function and well-being.


CLINICAL & RESEARCH INTERESTS

  • Rehabilitation of persons with neurologic problems including stroke, spinal cord injury, degenerative diseases, traumatic brain injury and vestibular disorders
  • Use of a novel functional electrical stimulation device and telerehabilitation to improve walking function for people with multiple sclerosis
  • Adaptive sports and access to community exercise programs for people with neurologic disorders
  • Use of technology to augment and increase efficacy of vestibular rehabilitation
