Join us to celebrate our newest UCSF/SFSU Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2025 at their White Coat Ceremony! This special occasion signifies their entrance into the physical therapy profession and transition into clinical studies.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Andrew Lui, DPTRS faculty memberDr. Andrew Lui is a Clinical Professor in the UCSF Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science. He obtained his Bachelor’s in Science in Psychology and Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and his Master’s and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the joint physical therapy program at the University of California, San Francisco and San Francisco State University. After working as an inpatient and outpatient staff physical therapist, he joined the UCSF Faculty in 2000.

Dr. Lui provided consultation services for the UCSF Ergonomics Department for 10 years and at the UCSF ALS Center for over 20 years.  In addition to providing care at the UCSF Faculty Practice in Physical Therapy, he currently provides multidisciplinary care at UCSF Department of Rheumatology, at the UCSF Integrated Spine Service in collaboration with the Department of Orthopedics and Pain Management Center, and the UCSF Brachial Neuritis Clinic in collaboration with the Department of Neurology.  Dr. Lui also currently serves as Site Coordinator for Clinical Education to mentor preceptors and students during clinical experiences. Dr. Lui was honored with the UCSF Alumni Practitioner award in 2021.

With respect to clinical service, Dr. Lui is the only physical therapist on the Medical and Science Advisory Board of the Spondylitis Association of America and also is a member of the Expert Panel on Spondyloarthritis for the Arthritis Foundation.  He has also been an invited speaker at conferences for the Spondylitis Association of America and the American College of Rheumatology.
