The mission of the Health and Wellness Center is to translate state-of-the-art movement and exercise sciences into physical therapy practice, supporting optimal health, wellness, and general fitness.
Services
The Health and Wellness Center provides individual and group programs. One-on-one care is provided by licensed physical therapists and is available to clients of all ages. Our programs are run by UCSF physical therapists to improve strength, endurance, balance, flexibility, posture, mental acuity, coordination, and function. We offer specialized care for:

Group Exercise Classes
Postpartum Rehab Level 1 by Dr. Jennifer Kinder | $97
Virtual | 10:00AM-11:00AM PST | Sept 12 and 19, Oct 3 and 10
A 4 week session designed for mamas 6 weeks to 6 years (+!) postpartum. This class is designed to help heal diastasis-recti, pelvic floor dysfunction, incontinence, body discomfort, and a weakened core. Re-educate the body to find its true core muscles.
Postpartum Rehab Level 2 by Dr. Susannah Santee | $97
Virtual | 10:00AM-11:00AM PST | Nov 14 and 21, Dec 5 and 12
This 4 week course is for postpartum clients 3 months to 30+ years who have completed the Postpartum Rehab Level 1 class or individual postpartum physical therapy and are ready to advance their strength and fitness. Topics include ongoing self-management of diastasis recti, progressive core strength, and building strength and mobility through yoga and pilates-based movement sequences.
Peri/Menopause by Dr. Jennifer Kinder | $97
Virtual | 10:00AM-11:00AM PST | Dates TBD – Email for interest
As women enter this phase things can change “down there.” Learn how to strengthen your pelvic floor and core to combat common peri/menopausal conditions like urinary urgency, frequency, pain with intercourse, and decreased overall fitness.
Building Strength After Breast Cancer by Dr. Jill Gleason | $85 baseline evaluation and $20/class
In Person | 9:00AM-10:00AM PST | Fridays
This class is designed to improve the strength and fitness for those during and following breast cancer treatment. Evidence supports that strength and conditioning is not only safe, but it provides improved energy and quality of life. We will provide a baseline assessment of cardiovascular fitness, strength, and mobility. This will be followed by a weekly small group class.
Strength in Numbers by Dr. Jordan LaBrec | $85 baseline evaluation and $20/class
In Person | 10:00AM-11:00AM PST | Fridays
This class is a supervised exercise class that utilizes the evidence-based treatment protocols from prostate cancer research including strength training to improve patient outcomes throughout their treatment into survivorship.
Strength and Conditioning by Dr. Dustin Tom | $20/class
In Person | Contact for dates and times, usually 2x/month
Optimize form, understand programming, reduce pain, improve strength, and maximize performance
Chair Yoga by Dr. Ana Lucia Lotz | $20/class
In Person and Virtual | 3:30PM-4:30PM PST | TBD
This class offers an adaptive yoga sequence that can be practiced by anyone (with or without mobility limitations) looking for decreasing muscle tension and stress, with focus on postural re-education. You’ll work on: meditation, breath work, coordination, flexibility, seated and standing options.
Stand Tall by Dr. Sara Suddes and Dr. Susannah Santee | $85 baseline evaluation and $25/class, $80 for 4 classes
Virtual | 8:30AM-9:30AM PST | Tuesdays and Thursdays
A group class directed by UCSF physical therapists to improve posture, strength, and physical performance, with potentially long-term reduction in risk of fractures, in addition to providing social benefits and peer support.
Balance Fit by Dr. Erica Pitsch | $85 baseline evaluation and $25/class, $80 for 4 classes
In Person | 12:30PM-1:30PM PST | Fridays
This class offers a comprehensive assessment of fall risk. It features group exercises designed to improve overall stability and reduce falls. You’ll work on: balance and coordination, fall prevention, strength, cognitive flexibility, speed, and agility.
Balance Fit Functional Fundamentals by Dr. Erica Pitsch | $20 per class
In Person | 1:00PM-2:00PM PST | TBD
Balance is a complex skill that requires strength, mental and physical flexibility, and the ability to use your senses effectively. Balance is also part of every functional movement from sitting and reaching to standing and walking. Balance Fit Functional Fundamentals as a small group class that will focus on the building blocks of balance in a safe, supportive environment. The focus will be on building leg strength, standing posture, multitasking, and being able to move through space confidently and effectively.
