UCSF/SFSU supports the continuing education and professional development of DPT graduates and faculty. The following is a list of symposiums, lectures, courses, and other resources available to the PT community.

Schroth Best Practice Basic Course – Sept 29- Oct 2, 2023 (3.2 CEUs)

This course will teach the participant corrective exercises to treat three-dimensional scoliosis based on the original Schroth concepts for small and moderate scoliotic curves.  The Schroth Best Practice basic course is for physiotherapists, occupational therapists and medical physicians.

Upon completion of the course and passing the practical portion of the examination, the participant will become a certified practitioner.

Acute Care Journal Club - Sep 2022 - Aug 2023 (0.52 CEUs)

Facilitates evidence-based practice and discussion with physical therapy practitioners in the acute care setting regarding 4 relevant published articles in a quarterly virtual format.

  • Learning objectives: By the end of this series, participants will be able to:
    • Improve their familiarity with the ACE tool in group critical appraisal discussions
    • Engage in collegial discussion regarding implementation of published interventions in their practice setting.
    • Increase their self-assessed competency in article critical appraisal.

Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Journal Club - Sep 2022 - Aug 2023 (0.5-1 CEUs)

  • Instructor: Cathy Hoang, PT, DPT
  • Expectations: Participants are expected to attend a minimum 5 full Journal Club sessions to qualify for continuing education units (CEUs). Attendance will be taken at the beginning and end of the session, and a post-course survey is required after each session to receive CEUs.
  • Learning objectives: By the end of this series, participants will be able to:
    • Describe the clinical bottom line for at least one article presented at each Journal Club session in attendance.
    • Interpret the findings of the studies presented and the determine the significance of thesefindings.
    • Discuss some of the limiting factors of the study that can affect the overall interpretation oftheir results.
