UCSF/SFSU DPT Student Caia Rice Awarded Seven Generations Scholarship

Caia Rice, a student in the UCSF/SFSU Graduate Program in Physical Therapy Class of 2027, has been awarded a scholarship from the Native American Health Center’s (NAHC) Seven Generations Scholarship Fund. The award recognizes Indigenous students committed to advancing their education and giving back to their communities. Rice, who has been an active volunteer with the UCSF Native American Health Alliance (NAHA), attended the scholarship awards dinner in late June.

“It was such a special and well-organized evening – it was truly inspiring to see Indigenous students at all stages of their educational paths being uplifted by the community NAHC has built,” she said.

The Seven Generations Scholarship is one of several efforts by NAHC to support Native learners. NAHC is also a partner in NABARI, the Native American Bay Area Research Initiative, which promotes collaboration between Native communities and researchers. Rice’s recognition highlights the important role of NAHC in fostering educational opportunity and cultural connection.

She hopes to help other Native students access the same support she’s received: “I encourage others to apply next year and am happy to answer any questions or serve as a point of contact,” she said.
