Congratulations, Excellence in Interprofessional Teaching Award Recipients

We are thrilled to announce that Natalie Anzures, PT, DPT and Ivan Arriaga Martinez, PT, DPT, have been selected as recipients of the 2023-24 Excellence in Interprofessional Teaching Award, presented by the UCSF Program for Interprofessional Practice and Education (PIPE) and the Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators. This prestigious award is peer-nominated and recognizes outstanding educators who have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication in interprofessional teaching.

Natalie Anzures, PT, DPTNatalie

Nominated by Andrew Lui and Cathi Dennehy, Dr. Anzures has shown exceptional dedication to fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment. Her work in Interprofessional Education (IPE) Sessions and Interprofessional Standardized Patient Exercise (ISPE) sessions has earned her top scores and high praise from learners. Dr. Anzures' ability to engage students, facilitate meaningful discussions, and model effective communication strategies has greatly enhanced the quality of education at UCSF and the collaborative skills of future health care professionals.

Ivan Arriaga Martinez, PT, DPTIvan Arriaga Martinez

Nominated by Erica Pitsch and Heather Bhide, Dr. Arriaga Martinez is recognized for his unwavering commitment to excellence and lifelong learning. Dr. Arriaga Martinez has masterfully balanced his teaching, clinical, and research responsibilities. He has facilitated 2-3 sessions per year of the Core Principles of Interprofessional Practice program since 2020, consistently earning remarkable student scores and praise for his calm and inclusive teaching style. Dr. Arriaga Martinez's contributions have significantly enriched the interprofessional education experience at UCSF.

Both Dr. Anzures and Dr. Arriaga Martinez will be honored at the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators Annual Celebration of New Members and Reception on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. This event will also recognize new members and staff for their contributions to education.
