Alum Michael J. Moore, PT, receives the 2020 APTA Henry O and Florence P Kendall Practice Award!

Alum Michael J. Moore, PT, is the recipient of the 2020 APTA Henry O and Florence P Kendall Practice Award!! Our heartfelt congratulations Michael!!

“The Henry O. and Florence P. Kendall Practice Award recognizes a physical therapy professional who has engaged in extensive clinical practice for a minimum of 15 years. Recipients of this award embody and demonstrate a commitment to developing physical therapy as a caring profession. Recipients are selected based on their positive and substantial effect on the shape, scope, and quality of physical therapy practice; their impact on other physical therapists in a manner that has significantly increased their abilities to practice physical therapy; their contribution to the overall and widespread development of physical therapy as a caring profession; and their contributions to the association.”

Michael received his PT degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He then completed the six-month residency in Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation at Kaiser Vallejo, and completed a two-­year Orthopedic Manual Therapy Residency in Oslow, Norway. After his return, Michael opened Folsom Physical Therapy, in 1983, in Folsom, CA.

Michael is a faculty member of the Folsom Physical Therapy orthopedic long-term course and has taught numerous courses on the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Michael is one of the eight founding fellows of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, and since 2001, Michael has been a guest faculty at the UC Davis School of Medicine in the Division of Pain Medicine.

Michael has been honored previously for his contributions to the profession. In 2014, he received the Freddy Kaltenborn “Teach I Must” Award. In 2015, Michael received a UCSF 150th Anniversary Alumni Excellence Award on the occasion of UCSF's 150th Anniversary. The UCSF 150th Anniversary Alumni Excellence Award was granted for distinction in research, clinical care, education, business, and/or public service. Awardees selected reflect the excellence of UCSF's entire alumni community.

We couldn’t be happier for Michael on this latest acknowledgement of his substantial contributions to the practice and advancement of our profession.
