Thanks to the exceptional learners, educators, researchers, clinicians and staff in our department, we have experienced another year of substantial growth and achievement:
Expansion of our education programs. Both our PhD and residency programs saw record enrollment numbers. We obtained accreditation for our neuro residency, renewed the accreditation for our orthopedic residency, and are currently progressing towards establishing a new residency in pelvic health.
Record number of learners who are underrepresented in health care. This year, 46% of the incoming students to the UCSF/SFSU Graduate Program in Physical Therapy identified as underrepresented in health care, aligning more closely than any previous class with the diverse demographics of our state.
Growth of our research program. Our faculty members continue to lead the way in advancing the field of rehabilitation science with $7 million in new grants and six additional federal awards.
Increased access to physical therapy services. As the largest provider of physical therapy in the nine-county Bay Area, this year we offered additional hours of service at our interdisciplinary clinics, including in oncology, sports medicine, neurorecovery, ALS and pelvic health.
